Fabulous antique French Napoleon III era 18pc sterling silver 8" entremet or dessert knife set, vermeil & shimmering mother of pearl handles with original steel blades and fitted presentation box! In a word, gorgeous! The complete service for 18, all matching and complete, no hallmarks but the collar & caps are surely 22K gold plated sterling silver (vermeil), or at the very least would be 18K. Also, the cartouche you see inlaid there is 18K solid gold. The Napoleon III era service is stunning, a set you'll use for luncheon, fruit, cheese and dessert service, and will thrill to own as your own family heirloom set. Each pearl handle with an inlaid 18K solid gold medallion and engraved monogram LG or perhaps GL, open to interpretation as are many of these old scripts, the set is truly fabulous. Good-very good condition. The blades are all the original steel ones with some age tarnish visible. There is one cracked pearl handle and another with a chip or small crack close to the blade. All else superb! The box is original and does show its age a bit with some chipping and/or losses to the green leatherette covering. See pictures for measurements.

Insurance has been eliminated as an option by ebay, forcing us sellers to either ship your items without insurance or assume that expense also. We always insure our items BUT, more importantly, pack them extremely well knowing that most are not replaceable. Our shipping days are Tuesday and Friday, paid items will be shipped on the first shipping day after payment is received (except when special circumstances exist). We prefer to use USPS whenever possible, and require all packages to be insured. If you prefer another method of shipment, please mention it. We charge only actual expense of shipment/insurance, except in the case of larger items which must have special wood crates built. Wood crate charge, when applicable, is a flat .00 in addition to actual postage & insurance charges.

8.75% sales tax applicable as of April 1st, 2009 for shipments & sales within the state of California, no exceptions. If you are within CA and are a dealer buying for resale, you must provide us your active resale certificate # and acknowledgment of intent to resell or we will have to collect sales tax. No exceptions.
